Mobile app onboarding wireframes

Showroom is a customer interaction platform for people-to-people sales.

With Showroom, sales representatives can send their showroom link so their customers can browse the latest content and buy products directly.

  • Instead of countless PDF documents or brochures, the customer gets one link that contains everything
  • Instead of searching for documents, the sales department sends Showroom links at lightning speed
Context and problem

The onboarding for sales representatives used to be done manually by Showroom team members:

  • Showroom team would send a form to sales representatives
  • Sellers would fill it in with the following details, and send it back to the Showroom team: personal info, contact info, product media (images, videos, PDF)
  • The Showroom team would then create a profile for the sales representatives and share the credentials with them

Having the sales representatives share their info via form instead of having them onboard themselves on the mobile app was slowing the process.

The users

The sales representatives are not too tech-savvy. They regularly work with software like Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Microsoft Office. The majority of them prioritize using their phones, and since the COVID-19 pandemic broke, they’ve been working from home.

Solution

Since the sales representatives are not too tech-savvy, the onboarding flow starts with very simplified registration screens that resemble the apps they use the most (Instagram, Facebook).

  • Registering using a work email is mandatory; this is gonna allow them to easily find and use media that was shared by their company.
  • Rather than having to type the password twice, the user can click on the eye icon and check the password they’ve just entered.
  • Registering the company address is not relevant anymore, since the users are now joining Showroom using their work emails. All company details are gonna be handled by the company admin.
  • Whatsapp number appears on top, before the phone number, because the sales representatives prioritize contacting prospects via Whatsapp.

What’s a Rich Text element?

Often users don’t complete an activity in one sitting or through a single channel. Some of the most common reasons why users change channels include: there is an external interruption or change in context; the task is better suited for another channel (images, videos and PDFs might be best managed on the computer).

  • The calendar link can be added later, if the user struggles to switch between apps (from Showroom to Calendar/browser and vice-versa) while onboarding.

  • Sales representatives can either select images, videos and brochures from their company’s catalog or add their own media from their devices.
  • Adding their own media works very similar to adding photos and videos to Facebook.
